There used to be a "Next Blog" button on the "View Blog" page. I used to click it all the time to see what was going on out there in the Blogger community.
A few years ago, I began to notice more and more "abandoned blogs." Family photos, hobbies, poetry, etc...all of them left in a state of suspended animation. I started to notice children stopped aging, poetry ceasing, posts spreading further apart, apologies for "not updating in a while." Six months... A year... Two years...
Understandably, technology was moving forward. People were moving to other social media platforms. Their final posts continued to exist as time moved forward. They all began to strike me as weak signals being sent from deep space, like from the Voyager 2 satellite as it passed beyond our solar system.
It's 2019. It's been ten years since I started posting here. I have my own website now, but it lacks the history and content that I built here.
Blogger feels like a shopping mall that hasn't closed - and I'm intrigued by it. I intend to "keep my shop open," as long as this platform exists. I've decided to post more frequently now with a sense of abandon because who's really keeping score? I plan to keep sending back a signal as I continue to put more distance between the present and this thing I took a chance on ten years ago.
